Raised in Mount Clemens, Michigan until he moved to the Chicago area at the age of 18, Chuck Inglish born Evan Ingersoll is one half of the 2007-formed alternative hip-hop duo The Cool Kids.[1] Ingersoll attended Notre Dame High School in Harper Woods, Michigan where he played football and basketball. He met Sir Michael Rocks in 2005 when Reed found a beat on MySpace that Ingersoll had produced.[2] The two met to discuss terms of the beat's sale, and eventually ended up recording for two hours.[3] They were inspired by golden age hip hop and artists like LL Cool J and Eric B. & Rakim.[4] Ingersoll began promoting the new duo's material, and it was eventually booked by Josh Young of Flosstradamus for a DJ performance.[3] At their performance (in a venue called Town Hall Pub), the duo met the DJ Diplo who offered to release a mixtape of their unreleased tracks titled Totally Flossed Out on his label Mad Decent, though it was eventually released on C.A.K.E. Recordings.[5] They also received an offer from the DJ A-Trak to sign to his Fool's Gold Records label,[5] which they did, but only for one single.[6] During their time with Fool's Gold Records, the Cool Kids felt they weren’t getting enough attention: “When your boss is on tour with Kanye West, it’s easy to have timelines missed,” said Chuck in an interview.[7]
All of their material had been released solely on the group's MySpace page[4]—their recording contract came after performances at the CMJ Music Festival and Pitchfork Media Music Festival, on July 15, 2007.[2][8] Eventually, The Cool Kids signed to Chocolate Industries, another independent label.[6] In 2008, the group revealed on their MySpace page that their debut album, When Fish Ride Bicycles, would be released in 2008, though it did not come out until 2011.[9] Ingersoll has been the producer for tracks released thus far,[10] but both work in rapping and production.[11] The duo uses music software program Reason from Propellerhead Software to produce their music.[12] In 2007, they opened for M.I.A. on her KALA Tour,[13] and they also performed at the 2008 Rock the Bells hip hop festival.[14] https://turenew871.weebly.com/openvpn-client-download-mac-os.html. The group toured across Australia in February 2008 and also appeared at the Laneway Festival. The group also appeared at SUNY Purchase's Culture Shock event in April 2009.[15] One of the duo's singles, 'Black Mags', was featured in a late 2007 Rhapsody TV commercial, along with Sara Bareilles.[16] In the same year, the group collaborated with Lil Wayne and DJ Benzi through the Internet on a track entitled 'Gettin' It.[17]
The Cool Kids have been featured in the video games NBA Live 08 and MLB 2K8 with the song '88',[18] in Need for Speed Nitro, with The Bloody Beetroots in the song Awesome,[19] and in the episode 'The First Cut Is the Deepest' from HBO's TV series Entourage with the song 'Mikey Rocks'.[20] They were listed in Rolling Stone's Ten Artists to Watch in 2008.[21] According to Rolling Stone, 'since 'Black Mags' debuted, the Cool Kids have gone from an underground sensation in their native Chicago to the hottest ticket at New York's CMJ festival.'[22] In 2008, they headlined the 'NBA 2K Bounce Tour' along with Q-Tip.[23] The group's second official mixtape, Gone Fishing was released on May 5, 2009.[9] On May 12, 2010, they released a mixtape titled Tacklebox.[24] In 2010, Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks teamed up with Gary, Indiana'sFreddie Gibbs and Cleveland'sChip tha Ripper to form the 'super group' P.O.C. (Pulled Over by the Cops).[25] On July 11, 2011, The Cool Kids' debut album When Fish Ride Bicycles was released.[26] On January 2, 2012, Inglish released an instrumental mixtape titled WRKING.[27] On April 23, 2012, he released another instrumental mixtape titled WRKOUT.[28]
2013-present: Convertibles[edit]
On June 13, 2013, he released a mixtape titled Droptops.[29] On October 15, 2013, he released a five song EP titled Easily.[30] On April 8, 2014, he released his debut album Convertibles through his Sounds Like Fun imprint and Dave Sitek's Federal Prism Records.[31][32] Co-produced by Inglish and Incubus' Mike Einziger, the 13-track project features collaborations with Chance the Rapper, Action Bronson, BJ the Chicago Kid, Ab-Soul, and Mac Miller amongst others, along with fellow The Cool Kids member Sir Michael Rocks and Canadianelectro funk duo Chromeo.[32]Convertibles was preceded by three singles – 'Swervin' featuring Sir Michael Rocks and Polyester the Saint, 'Came Thru/Easily' featuring Ab-Soul and Mac Miller, and 'Legs' featuring Chromeo.[33][34][35] https://renewtexas235.weebly.com/nightmare-creatures-pc-download.html.

Upon its release, Convertibles was met with generally positive reviews. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from critics, the album received an average score of 68, based on 10 reviews. David Jeffries of AllMusic gave the album four out of five stars, saying 'If there's a complaint to be made, it's that Convertibles is lightweight when it comes to subject matter, and with the whole whirlwind of influences flying about, the album could be taken as a slick showoff session, but these party songs stick to the bones. Skillfully strung together by ringleader Inglish, these flights of fancy turn into a substantial party album with plenty of fun and flash, so think of a more indie Pharrell or a modern ride through the Pharcyde because Convertibles is that kind of awesome.'[8] Ronald Grant of HipHopDX gave the album three and a half exes out of five, saying 'Even with many of the compelling and genre-altering moments found on songs like 'Prism', 'Mas o Menos', 'Glam' and 'Dream', and the refreshing old school flavor of songs like 'Money Clip' and 'Game Time', the general lack of cohesion dims Convertibles' overall quality. Pair that with the fact that Inglish has always been known for enjoyably passable but not necessarily elite lyricism, and you're faced with an album that's fun and even at times challenging, but not as memorable as it should be. But give Inglish kudos for not balking to trends and being ballsy enough to venture far past the predictable and the stale with Convertibles. Frankly, it's a listen that's pretty enjoyable and well rounded. It could just stand to be a more tightly knit as a body of work.'[10] Larry Day of The 405 gave the album a 7.5 out of ten, saying 'It may be a bit malnourished in thematic ingenuity – it's not as honest as Old or Oxymoron, or as celebratory as Acid Rap – but the allure comes from ingenious, inventive production.'[7]
Wechat download mac os x. In a mixed review, Michael O'Donnell of XXL gave the album an 'L', saying 'The 'Cool Kids' had a very distinct sound and it would have been easy for Inglish to retread his past. While he clearly still draws from what got him here, it's good seeing him reaching for a new sound, not wanting to be boxed into a particular style. The album, while slightly unfocused, does have its moments, and Inglish in particular, has revealed himself to be an artist to keep an eye on going forward.'[13]Pitchfork reviewer Renato Pagnani gave the album a 6.0 out of ten, saying 'Because of this inherent charm, Convertibles Civ 6 gathering storm free. ends up a low-stakes affair without being a low-quality one. And when you think about it, that's a pretty fair description of Inglish as an artist.'[11] In a less enthusiastic review, Matthew Davies of This Is Fake DIY gave the album two stars out five, saying 'All things considered Chuck Inglish hasn't offered enough that's new or high quality enough to truly make a mark.'[12]
